For Wine Drinkers
Easy, just buy a bottle (or several) of something sparkling and drink it. Invite over some friends, because bubbly isn't meant to be drunk alone. Try a variety of food pairings (pork, popcorn, sushi, caviar, oysters, etc.) and see just how versatile sparkling wines can be.
On the night of the event, just log into your favorite Twitter management software (I use HootSuite, many dig Tweetdeck and others) and set up a search column for #Bubbly, which will be the hashtag you use to keep up with your fellow bubble heads.
For Wineries
In my personal quest to taste a variety of sparkling wines, I've discovered many wineries from all over the world who make sparkling wines. I know the time constraint of having this on a weekday night on US time isn't suitable for all the great wineries in Europe, but you can at least take a gander at all the tweets the following day and see what folks are saying about sparkling wines in general.
Twitter isn't about self-promotion, so don't get too caught up in flouting your wares too much. You could make an event of it at your local winery and throw a big party, take some photos / videos and post them, just don't get a dose of the "me's" and over do self-promotion.
For what do we do this?
- Get people to drink bubbly more often than just New Year's Eve, weddings and the "special moments" in life. After all, have you ever seen a frown when bubbles are around?
- Educate people on all the great places where sparkling wines are produced.
- Respect the word Champagne and what it means.
- Have fun.

Why September 14th?
The day Dom Perignon died. There is no more iconic a name in bubbly than Dom Perignon, easily one of the most recognizable brands associated with luxury and the "good life". I couldn't find what day he was born on, so I went with the day of his death. See, I think a funeral should be a celebration of the life that has just passed. I know that when I go, I want people to open some bubbly, drink a toast and share the good things they remember about me.
